hypergrid.net[work] is an umbrella project by various contributors. More than 100 grids are able to take a “hyperjump” – to jump from one Opengrid world to the next.
Linden Lab and IBM experimented in an early stage of Second Life (SL) with hyperjump technology – so to reach Opensim worlds for their customers. Linden Lab took the ablity to hyperjump down in SL. Second Life is a commercial business, running with remarkable profits now for over 13 years. Opengrids are most non-commerical and therefore most of them support hypergridding and a possible exchange of works.
This is not the place to go deeper, just an example. You are in the welcome area of the Santorini Biennale with your Eye-Avatar and you like to visit a friend at Francogrid. You know he/she is waiting at the clubhouse of the Hypergrid Safari and the name on the sim is hgsafari – then enter in map: hg.francogrid.org:80:hgsafari
